Printmaking

For print making the necessary tools are the brayer, ink, a piece of paper, a styrofoam sheet, and construction paper. First, we sketched out a design of the season on the paper. Next, we traced that into the sytrofoam piece a couple times to create the indents so the brayer does not disperse ink there. After that we went to the brayer and stared rolling the ink and then took the syrofoam piece and placed it on the construction paper to transfer the image. After we did it once we had the opportunity to do it again. This time I was more careful with how I used the brayer and applied more pressure in the areas that needed it.

This is my piece from the printmaking that turned out best. I spent more time making sure that the edges where covered and applied more pressure in the middle to create an evenly applied layer of ink.

Extension Activity: This would be a really fun project to do for students in an english/language arts class. Students could make a book and do this to create the cover for it. This would be a fun way to get students engaged in writing since they would be able to create everything.
