Hidden Safari

The Hidden Safari project was a creation of an animals that was designed to be hidden behind different strokes to "hide" the outline of the animal. The animal would then be seen using some glasses that are made from a red film. The first step to this process was to trace an animal with a blue pencil. Next, we then took multiple different warm colors and created a bunch of different shapes to cover the animal. After that we put the paper onto a larger piece of construction paper to act as a border. After that we wrote 3 facts about the animal on a notecard and attached it to the art so that people would be able to use those hints to help them figure out the animal.

We also created glasses that we from a red film to that we were able to see the blue outline of the animal.

Extension Activity: This project would be a great activity to do if students were studying extinct animals or examining "fossils" that the students create because the element of having to search for them adds lots to the lesson. It will encourage students to not only use what they can see to identify the animal or fossil but also use the cards to learn information about them to figure it out.
